1. How Dcaged may earn revenue
Dcaged may receive revenue through the following channels:
- Display advertising. Pages may contain ads supplied by Google AdSense or another advertising partner.
- Quote-request referrals. A participating provider or referral partner may compensate Dcaged when we send a quote request.
- Affiliate links. If a clearly identified product link is an affiliate link, Dcaged may earn a commission after a qualifying action at no additional charge to the reader.
Ads, affiliate relationships, and referral availability can change. A brand or provider does not own our site merely because it advertises or receives a referral.
2. Editorial independence
Compensation should not determine our conclusions. Companies cannot purchase a factual claim, guaranteed recommendation, or concealed positive review. Sponsored material, if published, will be labeled so it can be distinguished from independent editorial work.
Commercial relationships can still create a potential conflict of interest. We disclose that risk instead of asking readers to assume it does not exist. Compare our information with primary sources and your own requirements before buying.
3. What “research-based review” means
Unless an individual article explicitly says otherwise, Dcaged reviews are desk research—not hands-on laboratory tests. Research may include manufacturer specifications, published plan terms, support documentation, warranty and return policies, app-store information, regulator or government resources, and credible independent reporting.
We do not describe a product as personally tested unless the article identifies what was tested, who tested it, when testing occurred, the conditions, and relevant limitations. A stock or illustrative image is not evidence of hands-on testing.
What we compare
- equipment scope and compatibility;
- installation model and likely complexity;
- self-monitoring and professional-monitoring choices;
- published fees, contracts, trial periods, warranties, and cancellation terms;
- privacy, account security, support, and meaningful limitations; and
- which user needs the system appears suited or unsuited for.
4. Ratings and recommendations
Any score is an editorial summary, not a scientific measurement or customer-review average. Scores can become stale as products and terms change. The reasoning, tradeoffs, update date, and cited sources matter more than the number.
A recommendation describes suitability for a stated use case. It is not a promise that a product will prevent crime, qualify for an insurance discount, work with every device, or meet every local code.
5. Accuracy, updates, and corrections
Security products and plans change frequently. Prices, promotions, equipment bundles, feature availability, app behavior, warranties, and contract language may change after publication. Dates on pages indicate our editorial review date; they are not automatically refreshed merely because a page loads.
Verify time-sensitive details on the provider's official site and read the current agreement before purchasing. To report a material error, email editorial@dcaged.com with the URL, disputed statement, and supporting source. We aim to review documented corrections promptly and note substantial changes when useful to readers.
6. Images, trademarks, and third-party links
Images may be illustrative and may not show the exact product, home, neighborhood, or installation discussed. Captions and alt text should not be interpreted as proof of product possession or field work. Product names, logos, and trademarks belong to their respective owners; reference does not imply endorsement or affiliation.
External sites control their own content, privacy practices, prices, and availability. We link to them for verification or convenience but do not control them.
7. Not professional or emergency advice
Dcaged content is general information, not a site-specific risk assessment, licensed installation plan, legal opinion, insurance recommendation, or guarantee of safety. Confirm permits, alarm-registration rules, electrical requirements, landlord or HOA restrictions, and insurance conditions with the appropriate qualified professional or authority.
In an emergency or immediate danger, call 911 or your local emergency number. Dcaged does not monitor alarms or dispatch emergency personnel.
8. Questions
